Our Roots
The Arctic Food Project began with a simple question.
As an Alaska family, we've experienced firsthand how weather, transportation delays, and supply chain disruptions can quickly affect access to everyday groceries. Even in one of Alaska's larger communities, a delayed shipment can leave shelves empty and limit access to fresh, nutritious food.
That experience led me to ask:
If these challenges affect my own family, what do they look like for families living in Alaska's most remote communities?
The Arctic Food Project was born from that question. Today, we're working to strengthen food security by making nutritious, shelf-stable foods more accessible while honoring the traditions, resilience, and self-sufficiency that define Alaska's communities.
That single question changed everything.
Our Northern Mission
The Arctic Food Project works to improve access to nutritious, shelf-stable foods in remote Arctic communities by producing and distributing freeze-dried staple foods that are lightweight, long-lasting, and easy to prepare.
We believe every family—regardless of geography—deserves reliable access to healthy food. By combining modern food preservation with community partnerships, we help reduce barriers created by distance, transportation costs, and limited food availability.
